WELLARD MODEL 75 (1975)

The Wellard model 75 was manufactured for Sedley Wells Ltd in 1975. The manufacturer is unknown at this time.

AM broadcast band radio, 4-transistor tuner and IC amplifier.

The photographed example was sold through Sedley Wells Music in Christchurch

The speaker is only hot-melt glued in(?!), and this glue sits over the grill cloth which is itself only lightly glued to the baffle board, so the speaker and baffle in the photographed models had broken loose and was causing chaos inside the cabinet.  Given this poor method of fixing its likely any other examples of this model will suffer from the same fate.

The model code is from the beginning of the serial number - although the date on the schematic is also '75, so this could just be a year code - however it is unlikely that many different models were ever produced, particularly in any given year, so '75' it is.

Note: the schematic is in poor condition, and only shows the tuner.  There is a separate power supply board with an IC amplifier.  The IC has a heatsink glued to its top so it is unidentified but could be an SN76001N or similar (this IC was used by the likes of La Wood in some of their similar vintage sets so would have been available in NZ).  The tuner board has the part number BEL10 or BFL10.
