The Westco model 40 was manufactured for Westco Distributors Ltd by Westco Products Ltd in 1950.

5-valve battery portable broadcast band radio with perspex / leatherette cabinet. 

Some were battery only, others were AC mains or battery power via switch.

General Construction Notes for Westco Products Ltd:

Often the model number will be stamped into the metalwork in the back, in front of the serial number - ie: if you find 126 3454 then its probably a model 126.  This is not always the case, but its pretty common.  Often a different number stamp will be used as well, so the model code and the serial number will be in different 'fonts'.  Here are a couple of examples:
